After touring the majority of the last decade with different rock bands, the native of Copenhagen MATTIS is now celebrating his debut as a solo artist.
A year ago, the 2.03-meter ex-punk rocker unplugged his guitar and teamed up with the acclaimed producer Ole Brodersen to develop his own sound. The two share a love for Motown and soul music. Combined with MATTIS ‘classic songwriting approach and his edgy rock background, they brewed a very special musical mixture called “Viking Soul”.
The music can best be described as alternative pop with great organic productions that form the framework for MATTIS ‘distinctive voice – a voice that radiates depth and personality.
In March, MATTIS made an excellent live debut at the Danish Spot Festival and drew the attention of industry representatives. His reputation has extended to Los Angeles, where his first recordings attracted the attention of Master Engineer Jeff Ellis (and Frank Ocean, for example), who will now be mixing songs for his upcoming debut album to be released in 2017.
